Jouyssance examines the cycles of life as seen through the eyes of a host
of favorite Medieval and Renaissance composers. Josquin’s monumental
Ave Maria/Pater noster, written as his own epitaph, Tomkins’ When David
Heard, and Dufay’s plea for mercy on his own death, Ave regina coelorum,
highlight this stirring program. Bringing it to a joyous conclusion will be
music celebrating resurrection by Byrd and Victoria.
